A hot bowl of soup can really taste good on a cold day, but can it make you feel and look younger?
We may not live on a farm, but we can grow where we live.

Before we had highly processed commercial soups, bone broth was the go-to for having a healthy, hot meal, especially on a cold day.
Bone broth is often made from chicken or beef bones simmered with water, vegetables, and other seasonings anywhere between 8-48 hours.
This long cooking process releases nutrients including collagen, amino acids, and many minerals like calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus.
Bone broth is not only nutrient-dense, but it also has many benefits that can contribute positively to your health, most notably: your joint health, gut health, immune health, and skin health.
1) Bone broth protects your joints.
Collagen is made up of three amino acids – glycine, proline, and hydroxyproline – and is the foundation of your connective tissue (cartilage, bones, blood vessels, joints, and tendons).
Joint pain can be attributed to a loss in collagen from aging and overuse and is something that needs to constantly be replenished since your body doesn’t naturally produce it on its own.
Rich in gelatin and collagen, bone broth is a great way to add these nutrients to your diet.
2) Bone broth is great for your gut.
Collagen, gelatin, and amino acids soothe and nourish our guts.
Not only do they help support a healthy gut lining, but they also ease inflammation in the gut.
Bone broth paired with certain plant foods, like turmeric or black pepper, can also help decrease inflammation in our GI tract.
3) Bone broth supports our immune system.
Hand-in-hand with gut health is the health of our immune system.
Since almost 80% of our immune system is located in our guts, healing and caring for our gut health is directly correlated with an increase in the health of our immune system.
4) Bone broth enhances our skin.
Collagen, protein, healthy fats all contribute to healthy, glowing skin.
And as I mentioned earlier, as we age, we lose the collagen that aids in the elasticity of our skin.
What happens when we lose the elasticity of our skin?
Then the skin starts to sag.
Sipping on bone broth can help us maintain that youthful glow.
I could go on and on, but I encourage you to try bone broth for yourself.
I recommend trying to sip on a cup or so in the morning or in between meals to boost your satiety, but it’s also great in recipes or sauces.
